Remote, Part‑Time
Position Summary

Over time, there may be opportunities to take on more advanced jazz instruction and specialized courses as the role develops. The Assistant Instructor will work closely with Dr. Wally in the development and implementation of educational materials, and in delivering high‑quality instruction and feedback to Saxophone Academy students.
Core Responsibilities:
- Teach a weekly beginner group Zoom class for Saxophone Academy members, including basic preparation.
- Provide concise, high‑quality feedback on student submissions, primarily via short audio recordings.
- Record clear demonstration exercises and short play‑along materials as needed to support the curriculum.
- Answer basic technique, practice, and jazz‑related questions from students in the online forum/community space.
- Take part in a weekly curriculum planning meeting (paid) with Dr. Wally to review students, align on teaching approach, and plan upcoming classes and materials.
- Over time, potentially assist in refining lesson materials and developing short courses or modules, particularly in jazz‑related topics and transcription‑based study, in collaboration with Dr. Wally.
Time Commitment and Compensation
This is a remote, part‑time contractor position averaging approximately 6–7 hours per week.
- Approximately $70–$80 per weekly beginner group class session (including class time plus typical preparation time), depending on qualifications and experience. Â
- Approximately $40–$50 per hour for asynchronous work (student feedback, forum support, short recordings, and the weekly planning meeting), depending on qualifications and experience. Â
The Academy currently anticipates:
- One beginner group Zoom class per week.
- A short weekly paid curriculum planning meeting with Dr. Wally.
- Several hours per week of asynchronous work, including feedback and forum engagement, within an approximate monthly budget equivalent to around $1,000 for this role.
